Leadership
Dr. Justin Mansell
President
Dr. Mansell has been developing beam control components and systems for over 25 years. He is an inventor on 11 US patents and has authored more than 50 technical papers and presentations. He is Vice President and Chief Technology Officer of MZA Associates Corporation and the President of Active Optical Systems, LLC. He has been responsible for developing and demonstrating MEMS, polymer membrane, and plate-type deformable mirrors and applying them to lasers and imaging systems. He has also been responsible for the development of Shack-Hartmann wavefront sensors, curvature sensors, and interferometers as feedback mechanisms in adaptive optics. Dr. Mansell received his doctorate in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University and his BS and MS from Case Western Reserve University. He is a member of the OSA and is a senior member of the IEEE and SPIE, and a member and fellow of DEPS.
Jesse Jameson M.S
Vice President / COO
Mr. Jameson has developed and manufactured beam control components and systems for more than 17 years. He started his career in the US Navy working on aircraft, after which he worked in production management and quality control before joining AOS and MZA in 2007. He has been a key contributor in the development of high-power adaptive optics including plate-type deformable mirrors and the associated drive electronics. He has also been responsible for contributing to the development of fast steering mirrors, Shack-Hartmann wavefront sensors, membrane deformable mirrors, and other adaptive optics components. He has been responsible for developing a manufacturing process for AOS that has improved its manufacturing readiness level (MRL) and its technology readiness level (TRL). He has extensive experience in program management, manufacturing, electronic and system design, and quality control. Mr. Jameson received his BS and MS in business from the University of Arkansas Grantham. He is a member of DEPS and SPIE.
