Active Optical Systems, LLC (AOS), started in 2005 by developing the lowest-cost / highest-quality deformable mirror on the market. By applying the same innovation and customer focus, AOS pursued product development and pioneered low-cost wavefront sensor products by leveraging the advances in interface camera technology. After establishing itself as a quality producer of beam control components and systems, AOS expanded into research, development, and production of high-end systems for defense, aerospace, and commercial applications. As our industry transitioned from the laboratory to fielded or defense applications, the challenges like atmospheric propagation, thermally induced aberrations, and beam pointing stabilization increased. AOS continued to design and deliver products that improved all beam control challenges.

Today, by maintaining the same core values and dedication to innovation and quality, AOS produces custom optical control components and systems including deformable mirrors (DM), fast steering mirrors (FSM), controllers, wavefront sensors (WFS), consolidated safety suites and hardwire abort systems, adaptive optics systems, and tracking systems. AOS has produced nearly 200 deformable mirrors with associated controllers and has provided key components for government customers and programs.
